I am still trying to figure out why some SEOs care so much about Alexa ranking. It is old school people get over it!
Alexa ranking was good in early days when there were no alternatives to webmasters to measure traffic but now that are analytics and SEO tools that can give you a pretty good information on your site traffic, keyword ranking, PR and many other useful information. There are a plenty of them but the most common free one that is used that I use and I like very much is the SEO Book tool.
There are also more sophisticated paid ones such as seopowersuite that I am demoing right now so there is not much I can say about it right now but it does cost you a few hundred bucks based on your organization.
So why Alexa? I am have no idea. No search engine uses Alexa as a factor to rank a website, and if you are interested in inbound links from a domain, you can estimate their traffic using the tools I specified above so why even bother with Alexa rank? I say let’s thanks Alexa for her services in the past and let her rest in peace.
