Priority to Sefati Consulting Group, I marketed this website under Sefati Search Consulting and later just Sefati consulting. That was because the business was owned and operated by mainly me so there was no “group”. But now that I have teamed up with other experts in my in the internet industry to complement my services in order to bring better solutions to businesses, I have changed the name to Sefati Consulting Group; We have professionals specializing not only in SEO and internet marketing, but also web development, internet security, mobile development, and even online business development.

We are currently converting the site and its content so it is more geared toward that goal however I will continue to blog about SEO, internet marketing, as well as other type of online business tips.

This website, used to rank on first page of google mainly because of the keywords on its domain and on its page and since it was only selling Adidas soccer ball. However after the Panda Update, because it had thin content, and since it was a mini site of a bigger retail site, Google dropped the site from its main keywords “Adidas Soccer Balls”.

Picking up the client, current strategy is as following:

1. Increase websites relevant content. Making sure there more relevant unique content on the page so the site is not considered thin content.
2. Cut all affiliations with its parent sites. That is to add nofollow on all the links and etc.
3. Exact match link building. I am not going to target other type of links. I want the site to rank well for its domain first.

I will be announcing how the progress and how it all goes. I am asking client for 3 months to rank although I think with a good amount of link building and onsite optimization, it really should not take us that long.

My client had two soccer websites; One called Soccer Loco and One called Soccer Crazy.

Soccer Loco is soon going to be replaced by soccer retail site, so we pulled over content from Soccer Loco and put it on Soccer Crazy and then we saw months of work on Soccer Loco vanished as the site lost its pagerank and Soccer Crazy got a sudden boost.

It was a bad recommandation I made as duplicated content is an SEO 101. Its OK to scrape content from other sites and put it on your site so as long as you link back to original site and possibly a cross domain canonical tag to solve this issue.

This reminds all of us that content continues to be king it is important when copying content from other sites, you link back to that site, at content level, so the search engines know where the source is and source doesn’t lose credit to the one that is copying it.
